A fatal kayaking accident has been reported in Lawrence County on Friday morning.

 

According to reports around 9:00 a.m. on Friday morning 911 was called in reference to a drowning kayaking incident where a male victim was in a lake on Appleton Road in Lawrence County.

Swift water rescue teams along with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, Southeast VFD, and EMA services were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival units discovered that man had been removed from the water, and was unresponsive.

At this time the incident is under investigation as to if victims death was a result of drowning or a medical issue.

The victim's identity has yet to be released.
