Loretto Tennessee police officers were issued a bolo for a silver Ford fusion after a female driver contacted dispatch multiple times stating she was being chased and in danger.

The driver refused to provide her location or direction of travel. Dispatch located the vehicle driving in loretto, where officers observed it speeding and failing to maintain its lane. Officers attempted a traffic stop and the vehicle initially refused to stop.

The vehicle came to a stop in the roadway near the commerce Street intersection. Upon first contact the driver was visibly distressed and made statements indicating she believed others were trying to harm her.

Officers observed signs consistent with narcotics impairment. The driver resisted officers while being secured and assistance was provided by retired officer who was passing by until additional units arrive. Emergency medical services responded and officers determined the driver identified as Tiffany L Casner-Delk, was under the influence of narcotics.

She was transported to the Lawrence County jail and charged with driving under The influence, reckless driving, and resisting arrest. The subject is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Loretto officers receive annual training in mental health response and drug abuse recognition. We recognize the seriousness of incidents involving substance abuse and impaired behavior, and while public safety is our first priority, we also Ensure receives timely medical care if necessary. We also recognize the need for treatment and meaningful support to address the underlining issue involved and provide information for those services when possible.
