Rutherford County Sheriff's office is the first in Tennessee to be setup for 911 Video Call.

According to Rutherford County Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh callers can now use their smart phone to use an enhanced emergency 911 system that allows for video call.

Now when callers contact dispatch the Carbyne c-Lite software will pinpoint the exact location of the emergency as well as allow the caller to video the scene to help dispatchers get callers the help they need.

This enhanced service will also help callers who are deaf or are unable to speak to be able to communicate with the dispatcher where the one-way video is only active during the call, and ends once the call is completed.

Carbyne is an Israeli based company with offices in Tel-Aviv, London, Mexico City and New York where they have been winners of the American Security Today Homeland Security Awards Program 2017, Best Emergency Response for Federal/State/Local Government 2017 as well as several others including an award for their commitment and dedication to innovative work in public safety.

Assistant Director of the Rutherford County Emergency Communications, Cassie Lowery, explained that to use the software there is no integration needed or app required, but citizens can if they wish to install the c-Now app on their iPhone (iOS 11 or later) or Android device (OS 4.4 and later) to speed up the process that eliminates the need for the dispatcher to send the caller a link.

For callers that are not using the app they would simply just contact 911 where the dispatcher would send the caller a link as a touchscreen notification message so permission to chat can be given as well as obtaining the location, and video.

All callers are encouraged to prepare smart phones, please verify, in advance, that location and video are enabled for your phone’s default browser and text message apps. Apple devices require iOS 11 or later and Android devices require OS 4.4 and up.

The Carbyne founder and CEO Amir Elichai spoke on the company being honored to work with the sheriff’s office where he stated, “By using Carbyne’s technology, Rutherford County is boosting the security of all of its citizens and further empowering its emergency response teams."
