Early Tuesday morning multiple Lawrence County firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire that resulted in parts of Highway 43 being shut down.

On Tuesday morning around 5:30 a.m. the Lawrenceburg fire department along with the New Prospect fire department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire at Welch's Garage on Short Avenue.

Due to the building being fully engulfed in flames parts of Highway 43 was shut down so firefighters could supply water to the scene where crews were able to successfully extinguish the blaze.

At this time no further details have been released, but even though the Highway has since reopened some roads near the fire still remain closed this morning where motorists are advised to use caution while traveling in the area.
