The Tennessee Powerball jackpot has jumped to an estimated $1.25 billion after no one matched all six numbers drawn on Monday night.

 

$1 million Match 5 winners were drawn in Arizona and California. The numbers drawn Monday night were 23, 35, 59, 63, and 68, and red Powerball 2. The optional Power Play was 4X.

The next drawing will be Wednesday night. The U.S. has seen more than a dozen lottery jackpot prizes exceed $1 billion since 2016. The record prize was $2.04 billion in November 2022

It sits just behind a $1.326 billion prize won by a man battling cancer in Oregon last year:

If you overcame the immense odds – 1 in about 292.2 million – experts have two quick warnings: sign the back of the ticket, to ensure only you can claim it, and keep it a secret for as long as possible. You won’t be able to do that forever, depending on where you live, but it can help avoid conversations with friends, family, and people you hardly know who may be looking for a cut of the pot.

Instead, experts suggest you build a team of people you can tell, like a financial advisor, a tax advisor, and a lawyer.

If you did not win the jackpot, your ticket may still be worth some dough. Not including the grand prize, there are eight ways to win while playing Powerball.

Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. The lottery game is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets are $2 each, with the Power Play option available in participating states for $1 more.
