Maury County Sheriff's Department are warning residents about another scam stealing hard-earned money.

The newest tactic is fake warrants. The Murray County Sheriff's Department states that they will never send you a copy of your warrant.

These fake warrants may seem legitimate and may even contain some of your personal information.

They will never ask for payment over the phone. They will never ask for payment via gift card or digital currency.

They do not give out warrant information over the phone.

Bottom line never make any payment to the Sheriff's Department or any other law enforcement after they have contacted you over the phone.

No matter how legitimate it may seem it never is.
