A Lawrenceburg police officer was on Patrol when a motorist flagged him down, and used a drinking hand gesture to alert the officer of a DUI driver.

 

 

A Lawrenceburg police officer was on patrol in the area of 2nd Street/1st Avenue when a passing motorist flagged down the officer then used a drinking hand gesture, and pointed to a silver car where the officer turned to see the motorist run a stop sign.

As the officer began to follow the suspected DUI driver he witnessed the vehicle execute an illegal u-turn at the intersection, and then pull into a driveway where the driver attempted to walk towards the front door in a unsteady manner.

Once the officer made contact with the driver he could smell a strong presence of alcohol where the male subject stated that he had only one drink, but was unable to complete a sobriety test.

The male subject was arrested on charges of DUI along with being issued citations for failure to yield to traffic control device, and commiting an illegal u-turn.
