For Immediate Release:
Subject: Supplemental Staffing Update

Effective Monday Dec 1, 2025 Lawrence County Fire Rescue began staffing Ethridge Station 2 and Leoma Station 8 with 2 trained personnel at each station from 8am-4pm on Monday-Friday.
We began staffing a 3 person crew at the Training Center Station in August of this year after the Lawrence County Commission saw fit to fund the request in our annual budget. The goal of the staffing was to supplement our volunteers during the daytime hours when many of our volunteers were unavailable to respond due to their jobs. The program guarantees the immediate response of a fire apparatus with trained personnel.
A quarterly review of the supplemental staffing program was recently conducted. As you would expect, the data shows that the program has already helped save lives and property. Upon discussing the data and the program it was obvious that the program would be much more effective if we moved the staffing out of the Station located at the training center in City of Lawrenceburg and into the County. The move would require additional staffing as the initial funding was for 3 personnel daily. The locations chosen were approximately 8 miles each away from the Training Center Station and located in the County. Both selected stations had great access to good roads that would aid in the deployment of resources. At the very least both station’s geographic locations would drastically improve response times. In addition, both Stations are located in close proximity to elementary schools that are filled with some of our most valuable resources, our children.
On Tuesday November 25,2025 the LCFR Board of Directors met in normal session. As the result of the program evaluation members of the LCFR Board of Directors requested that the board consider for a 4th paid spot that would allow us to take the crew out of the city and move them to a location in the County to help with response times and resource deployment. The LCFR Board of Directors voted unanimously to add the additional staffing. The Chiefs/Board Members believed in the program strongly enough to fund the new positions by contributing the money from their departments budgets.
Our volunteers have always been the backbone of our organization, and that will continue. The success of this program is to be credited to our volunteers as they were open minded to the program even before it had proven itself. Our Volunteers continue to support the program by welcoming the staffing into their stations and allowing the use of their apparatus and equipment. This program that increases public safety would not be possible without the continued support of our members.
