A YouTube certified diver, and Sheriff's Office discover car in Calfkiller River that belongs to Tennessee teen who has been missing for 2 decades.

On Tuesday in Sparta, Tennessee in the Calfkiller River Jeremy Sides, a certified diver and Navy veteran with a YouTube channel called Exploring with Nug that is dedicated to helping solve cold cases for missing people free of charge to family and police makes a discovery at the bottom of the river.

Sides uses high-tech sonar equipment that paints a picture of what’s underwater as he comes across
the same model vehicle that missing teens Erin Foster and Jeremy Bechtel were last seen driving after leaving a party 21 years ago.

According to Sides,“Human remains were found in the car. 20 years old, there’s not much left. But they did find a few distinguishing items that told them that somebody was in a car."

The White County Sheriff’s Office issued the following release regarding the case:

PRESS RELEASE:

On 11/28/2021 while attending church, Sheriff Page was talking to a member of Erin Foster's family. They had asked him if he had seen the video of a man "Exploring With A Nug" and Sheriff said no but asked her to send him the link to the website.

Sheriff stated when he got home he looked at the video and contacted the man. After looking at the case, Sheriff Page advised the man that he felt like he was searching in the wrong area and informed him of the area where the couple had went missing 21 years ago.

The man changed his location to Hwy 84, Calfkiller River on 11/30/2021 where he later discovered a vehicle and called Sheriff Page. Sheriff Page contacted Major John Meadows and his team arrived on the scene within minutes to investigate which led to the confirmed match of the vehicle.

Sheriff Page wants to thank all involved. Sparta White County Rescue Squad, TDOT, DA Inv. Chris Isom, who worked continuously on the case for the last 21 years, TBI Darren Shockey, Tennessee Towing Company, EMS Mike Kerr, Sparta Fire Department, and White County EMA.
