Resident Arrested For Heckling Deputies During Arrest

A Buffalo Road resident was arrested Thanksgiving night for heckling police officers while they were conducting a traffic stop.

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Deputies report they had conducted a traffic stop on Buffalo Road after noticing a vehicle that bore expired tags and had no functioning brake lights.

During the stop deputies report that they arrested vehicle occupants Darren Chase Yocom and Chelsea Forsythe on charges of underage consumption and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The driver, a male juvenile, age 17, was issued a citation charging him with DUI. He was later released into the custody of a parent. He will be required to answer the charge through Lawrence County Juvenile Court.

During the stop deputies report that a Waterloo Street resident exited his home and began to yell and curse at them.

The resident, identified as Joseph Coleman, reportedly directed numerous derogatory and demeaning remarks at the deputies.

They report that he continued to act in a belligerent manner and repeatedly refused to go back inside his home when instructed to do so.

Coleman was placed under arrest, as well. He was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was booked under charges of disorderly conduct.
