TWO COUNTY OFFICIALS RECEIVE STATEWIDE HONORS

Two Lawrence County, TN elected officials were recognized with prestigious awards at the recent County Officials Association of Tennessee (COAT) Conference held in Nashville. The COAT conference gathers county officials from across the state to discuss best practices, share ideas, and celebrate the achievements of local leaders.

Terra Dickey, Lawrence County Register of Deeds, was honored by being awarded the ‘Tennessee Outstanding Register of the Year’, an award given by her fellow Registers from all across the state. Dickey served as President of the TN State Register of Deeds Association for the 2024 session.

Tommy Lee Kidd, Lawrence County Circuit Court Clerk, was honored by being awarded the ‘Tennessee Outstanding Court Clerk of the Year’, an award given by his fellow Court Clerks from all across the state. Later in the evening at the COAT awards dinner, Kidd was honored by receiving another award, ‘COAT State Court Clerk of the Year’. Kidd is serving as the legislative chairman to the TN State Court Clerks Association.

These awards given by their colleagues mark significant achievements in their careers and underscore exceptional contributions to their public service in Lawrence County. These awards are presented annually to county officials who demonstrate remarkable leadership, dedication, service to their community, and an unwavering commitment to their office and constituents.

Terra Dickey has served as the Lawrence County Register of Deeds since 2019, overseeing all real estate recordings for the county. Dickey expressed her gratitude, saying, ‘This award means so much to me as it was voted on by my fellow Registers across the state. God has blessed me with a great family and the girls in my office that have supported me through this year while I served as President of the Association. I am grateful to Lawrence County for allowing me to serve as their Register.’

Tommy Lee Kidd has served as the Lawrence County Circuit Court Clerk since 2022. The Circuit Court Clerk is responsible for the Circuit, General Sessions, and Juvenile court record keeping and handles all jury processes. Kidd states, ‘All Glory first to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I thank my family and fellow court clerks. I’m blessed to have hard-working individuals in our office that keep the legal system running here in Lawrence County and thank them for a job well done. Thank you to the citizens of Lawrence County for allowing me the honor and privilege of serving in this capacity.’
