Resident Reports Sheep Attacked, Killed On His Farm

Authorities initiated an investigation Saturday after a Miller Lane resident reported his sheep had been attacked during the night.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report that one of the victim’s sheep had been killed and four others crippled as a result of the attack.
The resident said he was uncertain what had attacked the animals, but thought that it could have been area dogs.

While checking with neighbors deputies learned that one individual had heard a ruckus during the night.
He reported that he had heard what he believed to be a large pack of wild dogs or coyotes attacking at around 3:00 a.m.
He told deputies that the noise, “Sounded unlike any dog he had ever heard, and that it could have been coyotes.”

Investigation into the incident is still on-going.
