Resident's Debit Card Used Without Consent
A Lawrenceburg woman filed a complaint with law enforcement officials last week after she discovered that money had been stolen from her bank account through fraudulent use of her debit card.
The victim requested that the matter be investigated through the Lawrenceburg Police Department. She reported that she had been incarcerated at the Lawrence County Jail from late August until early November.
She told police officers that prior to reporting to the jail for incarceration she had given her purse to a friend for "safe keeping."
The victim told officers that once she was released she found that her debit card had been used several times between October 3 and November 3, without her consent. She told officers that the friend to whom she had entrusted her purse had since moved back to Florida.
Officers found that the card had been used several times outside of their jurisdiction so they advised the victim to file complaints with the proper authorities in those instances, as well.
