Lawrence County Sheriff's Department arrested a Summertown man after he attempted to evade a deputy before crashing into a ditch.

On Saturday night a Lawrence County Sheriff's Deputy was conducting a traffic stop on Oaks Road when the driver identified as Shawn Kirby of Summertown refused to stop.

Kirby disregarded the deputies attempt to pull him over where he continued driving until going off the roadway into a ditch in the area of Blackwood Lane, and came to a stop after striking a tree.

After crashing Kirby quickly attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended by the deputy then treated by medical personnel along with a passenger still inside the vehicle receiving medical care.
