Human remains found during house fire in Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Detectives are investigating after human remains were found by firefighters inside a burning trailer in Putnam County.

According to the Putnam County Fire Department, at 7:15 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, crews responded to reports of a single-wide trailer on fire along Dyer Ridge Road. Firefighters arrived to find the structure fully collapsed, and were working to extinguish the remaining hot spots in the debris when the remains were discovered.

PCFD said the structure was not receiving electrical service at the time of the fire. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office are now investigating.

The Medical Examiner’s Office is working to identify the remains. No additional information was released.
