Property Stolen While Man Is Incarcerated
A Mattox Road resident reported to authorities Monday that some of his belongings had been stolen while he had been incarcerated at the local jail.
The victim, age 37, told deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department that during a recent period when he was incarcerated, a relative had stolen, then pawned some of his property.
The victim said that he had located a remote control car, valued at $250, that had been pawned at a local pawn shop for $50. He told deputies that a laptop computer had also been stolen, but that he had not been able to locate it to-date.
The victim estimated his loss at $750.
