Subject: Residential Fire

Shortly before 6:00 AM this morning, Lawrence County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the New Prospect Fire District.
Approximately 6 minutes later our first arriving unit reported heavy fire conditions in a large 5th wheel camper being used as a residence with multiple vehicles being endangered by the fire. Personnel on scene were able to stop the progress of the fire and bring it under control.
The residents of the camper were at home when the fire began. They were able to escape the camper without injury. The fire is believed to be accidental in nature.
The New Prospect Fire Department and the City of Lawrenceburg Fire Department operate under an automatic aid agreement that provides a fire apparatus and personnel from both agencies immediately upon the receipt of a structure fire in their fire districts.
The goal of this agreement is to save lives and property while increasing firefighter safety by ensuring the response of additional personnel and the closest appropriate fire apparatus immediately to the scene. The incident this morning is another great example of the benefits of automatic aid agreements and a team initiative.
