Officers Recover Property Thanks To Employee Who Followed Shoplifters
Local law enforcement officers were able to recover property that had been stolen from a Lawrenceburg business Sunday after an employee followed the fleeing shoplifters.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that officers were dispatched to Dollar General Store located at 2010 North Locust Avenue shortly after noon.
The employee reported that she had been sitting in front of the store when a couple exited and walked to a red Grand Am that was parked next to her.
The employee said that the male subject walked to a rack on the sidewalk and took two, twenty-four count cartons of Mountain Dew.
She said the female pulled alongside him, he got into the car, and they left without paying for the sodas. She told officers that she followed the car to an area on First Avenue, then returned to the store.
Employees and officers were able to locate the couple on security footage. Officers eventually located the suspects’ car at a home on East Heights Street.
They report that they made contact with the pair and that they handed over the stolen merchandise, which was returned to the business.
Charges are pending in the case.
