South Lawrence Economic Development Forum
The South Lawrence Economic Development Association hosted a forum last week featuring local officials to discuss ways to improve the local economy and make Lawrence County more competitive.
The panel of officials included County Executive TR. Williams, County Commissioners Chris Jackson, Wayne Yocom and Bobby Cifton, Loretto Mayor Jesse Turner, Loretto Alderman Steve McMasters and Chamber of Commerce President Daniel Webb. Various business and community leaders were also in attendance.
The officials told those in attendance that the key to economic development is being proactive and giving business prospects a reason to want to move their company and their families to Lawrence County.
They noted that in order to be competitive going forward, the county needs to make improvements to local schools, infrastructure, and other quality of life issues in order to be competitive in the future.
Members in attendance expressed support for the school building program and asked all officials to keep the project moving forward.
