Agreement Approved For Placement Of Crossing Signs On North Locust Avenue
Lawrenceburg leaders have given approval to an agreement with the state that will allow for the placement of various signage and signals along North Locust Avenue.
Lawrenceburg Mayor Keith Durham said during the city council’s meeting last week that the planned installations will include some pedestrian crossing signals. The installations are planned between Ellingson and Robins Streets.
Under the resolution approved, the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation will install “signing and signalization” while the City of Lawrenceburg will be responsible for the costs associated with maintenance and operation. Durham said that the city will be responsible for providing electricity to the signals as well as expenses such as replacement of bulbs or wiring.
Should the city breach the contract, the agreement indicates that it would be responsible for repayment of all state funds expended on the project.
