In the past 24 hours Lawrence County Fire Rescue units have responded to several calls for service including two structure fires.

The first structure fire occurred in the West End Fire District. The shop fire was dispatched out shortly after 3pm on October 25,2025. First arriving units found a fully involved shop style structure with fire spread into a nearby wooded area. The property owners did sustain minor burn injuries as the result of the incident. EMS transport was not required. A wood heater was in use at the time of the fire, and can not be eliminated as the cause of the fire.

Units responded from the following stations.
West End, Henryville, Gandy, Leoma

The second structure fire was in the Ethridge Fire District. It was dispatched shortly after 4am on October 26,2025. Initial dispatch remarks indicated that a call was generated as the result of a fire alarm activation in the residence. When the alarm company called the residence to confirm they were advised that the home was on fire and the occupants (including children) were attempting to evacuate the home. A full alarm response was initiated. First arriving units from Ethridge Fire confirmed a residential structure fire with heavy fire involvement. The progress of the fire was stopped as the result of an aggressive interior attack. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. A wood heater that was in use at the time of the fire is believed to have been the cause of fire.
It is important to know that in this case an in home fire alarm system aided in a quicker notification of the fire department.

Responding stations include Ethridge, Henryville, Gandy, Lawrenceburg Fire, and LCEMA.

With cooler temperatures ushering in,many residents have began heating their homes. We urge everyone to take the time to inspect and clean your heating systems before use. We also ask that you use proper ventilation techniques while heating. As always we recommend the use of smoke alarms as well as carbon monoxide detectors.
