Department Of Agriculture Contacted Over Recent Dog Poisoning Incidents
Local authorities contacted Tennessee Department of Agriculture officials on Friday after a Summertown resident reported for the fourth time that his dogs had been poisoned.
The victim summoned deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department to his Dugout Road home around 6:00 p.m. He reported that he had arrived home to find both of his dogs had died. He told deputies that the same thing had occurred three times in the past.
The victim said that after he found his dogs he began to search along the roadway and found a sandwich bag of hamburger meat that the dogs had apparently been eating. He said that in the past his dogs had been poisoned in a like manner.
The investigation has been turned over to state officials as well as detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information about the crime is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s department at 931-762-3626.
