UAH Student Discovered at Joe Wheeler State Park

The body was found near Joe Wheeler State Park on Monday, and the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office located the driver’s license of a missing UAH student.

The Athens Police Department and Joe Wheeler State Park rangers were looking into a deceased person at Joe Wheeler State Park, and Lauderdale County investigators helped them with their investigation.

The vehicle of David Stann, who was reported missing to the Athens Police Department around three weeks ago, was found by park rangers and Athens police. Near the location of the vehicle, officers started searching a forested area. Human remains were discovered in a remote section of the park following a quick search. Stann’s driver’s license had been discovered on the clothes found on the remains.

The remains have been transferred to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy, and the cause of death is being investigated.
