Victim identified in drowning near Wheeler Dam

The Lawrence County Coroner identified the victim of a drowning late Saturday afternoon near the Wheeler Dam on the Tennessee River. 

According to Lawrence County Coroner Scott Norwood, the victim was 72-year-old Dennis Neal from Pulaski, Tennessee. Norwood says Neal was fishing below the dam when the boat got pulled under by the current and crushed.

Authorities responded to Wheeler Dam just after 6 p.m. Saturday.
