Lawrenceburg police officers reported that a local woman fell victim to a scam when she was sold a stolen cellphone online.

 

 

Lawrenceburg police officers received reports of fraud where they spoke with a local woman who discovered after buying a cellphone that it was actually stolen.

The female victim told police that she found the phone online for sale through Facebook where she now believes that the woman was using a fake name through the app to sell the stolen phone.

Officers filed the report with the name that the victim was given along with a description of the female that met the victim at an apartment complex on Bluff Drive in Lawrenceburg.

The victim told police that once she returned home from purchasing the cellphone she attempted to set it up, but was told by Verizon that the phone was actually stolen.

There are no further details at this time pending an investigation
