Manhunt underway after inmate escapes from job site in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC), said that an inmate left his assigned work site in Huntsville on Tuesday evening.

At the time of his escape, Deason was wearing blue jeans, a blue and white shirt, and a ball cap.

According to ADOC, 66-year-old Phillip Russell Deason, is described as a white male who is 5’9 and weighs 180 pounds with blue eyes and red/auburn hair.

 He was incarcerated at North Alabama CBF/CWC under minimum community custody for theft of property I, with a sentence dating back to Dec. 13, 1999.
