10-year-old child dies after gunshot to head, Dickson County sheriff says

DICKSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding a child’s death after he suffered a gunshot wound Monday night in Burns.

According to the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 9 p.m. Monday, a 10-year-old boy was shot in the head at a residence. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

DCSO officials told News 2 the incident is believed to have been accidental.

No additional information was immediately released.
