An off-duty Florence Alabama police officer was arrested for domestic violence.

On Saturday, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 disturbance call in the county involving an off-duty Florence Police officer and another individual.

Authorities said after an investigation at the scene and talking with multiple witnesses, the off-duty Florence Police officer, identified as Evan Thornton, was arrested for Domestic Violence 3rd.

Thornton was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center and had a $5,000 bond.

The Florence Police Department said Thornton has been placed on administrative leave.
