Florence Alabama Police Department warn about impersonation scam.

Scam Alert – 3 Reports Taken Today!

We want to make you aware of a very concerning scam happening right here in our community. People are receiving phone calls from individuals pretending to be from different law enforcement agencies. These callers claim you have outstanding warrants for missing federal jury duty and demand payment over the phone to avoid arrest.

These scammers are VERY convincing. They may use real names, official-sounding language, and sometimes even call your workplace to try and pressure you. THIS IS A SCAM!

Law enforcement agencies will NEVER ask for money or payment over the phone.

Here are a few red flags to help you spot a scam caller:

•They insist you must stay on the phone with them.

•They pressure you to pay immediately using a credit card, gift card, or wire transfer.

•They use threats of arrest, job loss, or legal trouble to scare you into paying.

•They claim to be “from law enforcement” but refuse to let you verify their identity through official channels.

If you ever get a call like this: hang up right away. Then call us directly to verify. If you have any doubts or concerns, just call us. It’s always better to double-check than to risk being taken advantage of.
