Lawrenceburg man was arrested after committing grand theft auto and crashing in Spring Hill during pursuit.

On September 22nd Spring Hill Police Department reported that a female victim had her 2019 Ford Mustang stolen from an apartment complex off Columns Way.

As officers began to investigate the stolen car case reports began coming in that someone was reviving up an engine while doing doughnuts nearby.

Officers located the Mustang near Main Street and Kedron Road where police said the driver fled when officers attempted to stop the vehicle.

A pursuit began where authorities reported that the Mustang reached approximately 70 mph in a 35 mph zone where police later found the Mustang crashed and smoking in a culvert.

The driver was identified as 18-year-old Jaxon Bryant Rhea of Lawrenceburg who was taken into custody on multiple felony charges, including vehicle theft, evading arrest and reckless driving.

A search of the Mustang reportedly uncovered a mask and loaded handgun where Police were investigating ownership of the weapon.

Investigators said surveillance video showed Rhea going through vehicles in the apartment complex parking lot before finding the Mustang unlocked with its keys inside.

Rhea is currently being held in the Maury County Jail.
