Presents Constitution Week Proclamation to Buffalo River Chapter DAR

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. — Lawrenceburg Mayor Blake Lay recently presented a proclamation to members of the Buffalo River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, recognizing September 17–23 as Constitution Week in the City of Lawrenceburg.

Constitution Week commemorates the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787, and encourages citizens to learn more about the document, the freedoms it protects and the responsibilities of citizenship.

“The Constitution has guided our nation for more than two centuries and remains the foundation of the rights and freedoms we enjoy today,” Lay said. “Constitution Week gives us an important opportunity to reflect on the principles established by our founders and consider our own responsibility to remain informed, engaged citizens. We appreciate the Buffalo River Chapter DAR for preserving our history and encouraging greater understanding of this remarkable document that is the cornerstone of our great country.”

The Daughters of the American Revolution has promoted the annual observance of Constitution Week since 1955. The organization encourages educational programs, public displays and community activities that increase awareness of the Constitution and its continuing importance.

The City of Lawrenceburg joins the Buffalo River Chapter DAR in encouraging citizens to observe Constitution Week by learning more about the Constitution and reflecting on the rights and responsibilities shared by all Americans.
