Subject: Structure Fire
On 9/13/2024 shortly after 8pm Lawrence County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the New Prospect Fire District with persons possible trapped inside.
Within 3 minutes of the call being dispatched a LCFR unit arrived on the scene and confirmed a two story residential structure with heavy fire conditions on the rear of the residence being driven by high winds.
Moments later an automatic aid Engine Company from Lawrenceburg Fire Department arrived on scene along with several New Prospect Fire units. Units on scene initiated an aggressive attack on the fire while also making a canvas for victims. Units on the scene were able to make contact with the homeowner to verify that the homeowners were not in the residence.
Due to inadequate water supply for fire suppression several LCFR engine and tanker companies responded to the scene to conduct a water shuttle operation to provide water for fire suppression. Units remained on the scene for nearly 4 hours before returning to service.
Despite the efforts of first responders it is believed that at least one family pet did not survive the fire. We ask that you keep the homeowners in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days as they deal with this loss."
