Proceeds From Annual T-Shirt Sale To Benefit Abigail's Plan
Lawrenceburg firefighters are gearing up for their annual T-shirt sale with this year's proceeds to benefit Abigai'ls Plan.
Firefighter Brian Green said that, although in years past they have sold Breast Cancer Awareness shirts, this year the shirt features the theme "Fighting for the Kids."
"We're going to kick off the sale at the Middle Tennessee District Fair this year," Green said. Shirts will be available for purchase at the Lawrenceburg Fire Department fair booth. Short sleeve shirts will be available at a cost of $15 and long sleeve shirts $17.
Abigail's Plan is an efforts to collect $350,000 in contributions to construct a rubberized ball field to better meet the needs of persons with disabilities.
This will allow those who must use wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and those who have difficulty walking, to better participate in the local Buddy Ball League.
The effort is organized by Tommy and Lesa Kidd and is named in honor of their daughter Abigail.
Monday morning Lesa Kidd said that in the seventeen weeks since they began Abigail's Plan, they have already collected $170,000. "We thought it would take us a year to get to this point," she said. "When we hit $175,000 we'll be halfway there."
