Subject: Large Brush Fire
Shortly after 2:30 PM Lawrence County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a grass fire in the Leoma Fire District. During our response the call was upgraded to a fire with structures endangered and one person on the scene who had sustained serious burns.
First arriving units found approximately 5 acres of corn field and grass/brush on fire moving towards a structure. Patient care was initiated by units already scene and Lawrence County EMS.
Fire units protected the structure and extinguished the advancing fire. Fire units also assisted in establishing a safe landing zone for the responding medical helicopter.
Units from multiple LCFR stations responded to the incident along with Lawrence Co. EMA, Lawrence County EMS, the Tennessee Division of Forestry, Loretto Fire Department, and local law enforcement. The fire was deemed to be accidental in nature. We ask that you keep the injured person in your thoughts and prayers.
