First and foremost, our hearts go out to the families and friends of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives in this devastating event.

Just before 10pm, the Florence Police Department was notified of a vehicle crash with significant injuries near the intersection of College Street and Fayette Street on Sunday, September 7, 2025. Shannon Thompson, 51, of Florence, was driving westbound on College Street near Fayette Street on a motorcycle.

The motorcycle collided with a passenger car driven by Christina Kelley, 32, of Florence. Shannon Thompson was pronounced deceased on the scene due to his injuries. Christina Kelley was transported to North Alabama Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased from her injuries. A 23-year-old passenger in Kelley’s car was transported to North Alabama Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
