965 inmates at Wayne County Facility have tested positive for COVID-19.

 

According to reports by the Tennessee Department of Health 965 inmates at the South Central Facility in Wayne County have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Tennessee Department of Corrections has stated that a total of 1,410 tests were administered last week after several inmates, and staff were showing symptoms of the virus which resulted in 965 positive cases.

Out of the 1,410 inmates that were tested 168 of those test are still pending results.

Due to the positive test staff at the facility will self-quarantine as well as be monitored, and Inmates with symptoms will be treated at the jail or at a local hospital
