Account Opened Using Victim’s Personal Information
A local resident reported to authorities late last week that someone had used her identity in order to establish a PayPal account.
The sixty-two year old victim told deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that she had received a letter in the mail, indicating that the account had been opened using her name, Social Security number, date of birth, and address. The account had been opened on August 25, 2014.
At the time of the report there had been no activity on the account. The victim said that she had instructed PayPal representatives to close the account.
