Man arrested after reportedly stealing Krispy Kreme truck from Nashville Walmart
When police asked why his quest involved stealing a Krispy Kreme truck, he said he had to accomplish the objective.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A man was arrested after reportedly getting kicked out of a Walmart and stealing a Krispy Kreme truck parked outside the entrance, according to an arrest report.
On Aug. 29, just before 7 a.m., officers received a call from Walmart security at 4040 Nolensville Pike.
Walmart employees said the truck was last seen turning onto Paragon Mills Road.
Officers nearby searched the area and spotted the truck entering a wooded area at 461 Paragon Mills Road, where officers arrested the suspect.Police spoke to the suspect, 35-year-old Umar Abdul-Malik, and asked why he attempted to steal the truck. According to police, he said he was “on quest” and “had to win the contest because everything was free.”
When police asked why his quest involved stealing a Krispy Kreme truck, he said he had to accomplish the objective.
Police said Abdul-Malik was unable to identify himself and referred to himself as “professor.” Officers also said he “laughed for no reason, sung and spoke of incomprehensible delusions.”
Police said Abdul-Malik appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.
Police arrested Abdul-Malik and charged him with theft of property valued at more than $60,000.
