Father and Son Killed in Limestone County House Fire

Two people are dead and three others injured after a house fire early Thursday morning in Limestone County, according to WAAY 31.

Fire crews responded at 12:19 a.m. to a home off Alabama Highway 251 where a 27-year-old man and his 7-year-old son were reported trapped inside. Five people were in the home when the fire broke out. A mother, her child, and an infant were able to escape with minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, but the man and his son were pronounced dead at the scene. One firefighter was also injured during the response and later taken to the hospital. He is expected to be released soon.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office and Limestone County authorities are investigating the cause. The home was declared a total loss, and a neighboring residence sustained damage.
