Local Jobless Rate Up Slightly
Lawrence County’s unemployment rate rose slightly during, July, increasing by only .2%.
In June, the county’s jobless rate registered at 7.8%, with that figure rising to 8% in July. Though this may provide a challenge for those seeking employment, it is a considerable improvement over the job market just a year ago, when the local unemployment figure stood at 13%.
Maury County claimed the top spot on the state’s jobless list, at 8.7%. The Wayne County rate registered at 7.2% while Gile’s rate came in at 6.1%.
