Loretto Mayor Jesse Turner announces funding awarded to Loretto Telecom to provide several public WIFI locations.

 

 

Loretto, Tennessee Mayor Jesse Turner released the following statement regarding funding awarded for public WIFI:
"I am proud to announce that via the Tennessee Emergency Broadband Fund administered by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Loretto Telecom was awarded funding to provide public WIFI in many of the public areas across Loretto including:

Loretto Civic Center
Loretto Swimming Pool
Weathers Park
Loretto Sports Complex

These WIFI networks will provide an opportunity for access while enjoying these public spaces; access to the world, school children to do homework, e-commerce, and many more benefits.  These networks open up current and future possibilities and are powered by lightning fast Loretto Telecom fiber.

This is all being completed at no cost to the City as the funds providing these networks are done so via grant and private (Loretto Telecom) funding."

Loretto Telecom General Manager Jason Shelton states that “We are more than happy to make this investment back into the community, one that has supported Loretto Telecom for decades. I hope this news is welcome news and we look forward to working together to complete this project on behalf of the citizens of Loretto, TN and surrounding areas.”

The timeframe for completion of this project is by year end, 2020!
