South Lawrence Convenience Center to Open Thursday (8/28) in Loretto, Tennessee
Lawrence County’s first solid waste convenience center in the southern part of the county, the South Lawrence Convenience Center, will officially open Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 10 a.m. The center is located at 171 Hollander Lane, off Busby Road near the Loretto Wastewater Treatment Facility, on a two-acre site donated by the City of Loretto.
The facility will operate on a part-time schedule to accommodate residents:
Tuesdays: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Thursdays: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturdays: 7 a.m. – noon
The South Lawrence Convenience Center features two drive-through lanes for household trash and recyclables, with space for larger items such as beds and furniture. Batteries and used oil will be accepted at the smaller building, though oil collection service is not yet available. Tires are only accepted at the main facility, and wood or construction/demolition debris will not be accepted.
The project received a $187,000 grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation, helping fund construction. The new center is expected to make waste disposal and recycling more convenient for residents in southern Lawrence County.
