Change In Lawrenceburg Budget Will Require Another Vote
Lawrenceburg leaders made an amendment to their 2009-2010 budget ordinance during a business meeting Thursday, requiring that it again be publicized and a second public hearing held before it may be brought to the table for a final vote.
Lawrenceburg City Administrator William McLain explained that the mistake was purely a clerical error in the area of non-governmental donations. The error resulted in a $123,000 deficiency.
As amended, the budget ordinance calls for a total of $10,794,529 in spending during the year, with revenues projected to total $10,796,053. The budget is based upon the same property tax rate as utilized during the previous budget year; $1.49 per $100 of assessed value.
Council members approved the document on first reading. The ordinance will be re-advertised, with a public hearing to be held at the Lawrenceburg City Administration Building at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2009.
