Deputies respond to reports of an abandoned vehicle in Lawrence County that results in drug charges.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department was dispatched on Sunday to the area of Dukes Park Road in Summertown in reference to an abandoned vehicle on the side of the road.

Upon arrival deputies located the abandoned vehicle which had improper registration, and through running the vehicle's identification number discovered from the owner that the vehicle had been sold.

Nearby in a wooded area several subjects were discovered who told deputies they were unaware of the owner of the vehicle, but one of the male subjects identified as Paul Hickman had outstanding warrants where the deputies placed him under arrest.

Inventory of the vehicle was taken before having it towed which resulted in deputies discovering medical syringes, baggie with methamphetamine, and the contents appearing to belong to a female subject.

After speaking with the other subjects again the deputy discovered that the female suspect was hiding in the woods.

Hannah Murphy of Mt Pleasant was placed under arrest on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and evading arrest.
