A shared vision between a teacher, principal and Abigail's plan has came to life as Summertown Elementary School held their grand opening of Abigail's Playground on Monday!"'

Abigail’s Playground
In 2017, SES teacher, Erin Jorge, shared her vision with SES principal, Ricky Mabry, and Summertown Elementary started a journey based on the premise that all students should have the opportunity to have a fully accessible playground.

The seed for the All Inclusive Sensory Playground was planted. Four years ago the paths of Summertown Elementary and Abigail's Plan crossed. It seemed that both groups had the same dream for the community. The seed that was planted would now have the opportunity to grow, reaching for the much needed sunlight. Abigail's Plan would provide the sunlight.

Abigail's Plan had already conquered many of the obstacles and had the experience in making dreams like this one come true. The Miracle Field is just one example of what can happen when you are surrounded by people that want to make things better for the community, you have love for one another, and you are willing to commit the blood, sweat and tears to make a dream a reality.

On August 19, 2024, Summertown Elementary and Abigail’s Plan celebrated the grand opening of Abigail’s Playground! It is through Lawrence County’s continued support of Abigail's Plan, Summertown Elementary, Bulls and Barrels Rodeo, T-shirt orders and generous donations that we were able to turn a dream into reality.

Please continue to support Abigail’s Plan by attending the Bulls & Barrels event this weekend!

Our new playground is open and available to all children when school is not in session.

Thank you Lawrence County!"
