Stolen Items Found At Evicted Tenant’s Home
A Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy reports he found items reported stolen from a house trailer in Summertown Wednesday, at the new residence of the former tenant.
Deputies were dispatched to a house trailer at 9 Grisham Road around 8:30 Wednesday morning where they met with owner Nathan Scott Clifft. He reported he had obtained an eviction noticed against his former tenant two weeks before. The tenant then moved to a home approximately one mile away, on Caldwell Road.
Clifft reported he had shown the trailer to a prospective tenant on August 12 and everything at the home was intact. When he was passing by that morning, however, he noticed the front steps to the trailer were missing. When he stopped to take a closer look, he discovered the rear steps were also missing, along with the utility pole and entrance wire.
The deputy reports he went to the Caldwell Road residence to confront the former tenant and found all the items reported stolen lying outside the home. The tenant, however, claimed he had receipts to verify he had purchased the items.
Clifft was advised to obtain a warrant in order to reacquire his property.
