Burglars Make Off With Cigarettes And Fishing Equipment
Burglars who targeted a Summertown market during the weekend made off with tobacco products and fishing equipment, but left other items lying undisturbed.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to Summertown Bait and Tackle twice in the early hours Sunday.
A burglar alarm first sounded shortly before 3:00 a.m. The owner quickly checked, but could find no intruders. Around ten minutes later, reports show that the alarm sounded a second time.
Deputies report that the culprit had thrown a large rock through the front door glass. The rock was found lying inside.
The owner reported that one carton of cigarettes and one carton of cigars were taken along with four rods and reels. Deputies noted that two firearms lying on a shelf beneath the cash register were left untouched.
Damages and loss were estimated to total $525.
