Arrest Made In Friday Morning Armed Robberies
A Lawrenceburg man was taken into custody Friday morning, suspected in armed robberies of two local markets.
Police officials report the first robbery took place around 6:00 a.m. at Taz Mart on West Gaines Street. The cashier told officers the man entered the store and pulled a gun.
He reportedly held the gun to the cashier’s head and demanded the cash from the cash register. Once he had the cash, the cashier said, he left on foot.
While officers were still working the scene they were informed that a second hold up had occurred at North End Market on Mahr Avenue.
As in the first crime, the owner reported the gunman entered the store wielding a handgun and demanding cash. He told officers the man left, got into a Honda van, and drove away.
Officers were able to obtain an detailed description of the man from both victims, as well as a description of the van. They report they located the van and a man matching the description at Old Public Apartments on Jackson Avenue.
As a result of the investigation Joshua David Carter, age 32, was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. He was booked under two counts of armed robbery and two counts of theft.
Carter was jailed in lieu of a $130,000 bond.
