1 person extracted from vehicle involved in head-on collision in Maury County

MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — One person was rescued from a vehicle after a head-on collision in Maury County Saturday afternoon.

According to the Maury County Fire Department, units were dispatched shortly before 3 p.m. to Pulaski Highway near the Giles County border, where they found one person trapped in a vehicle.

Six other individuals involved in the collision were also found on the scene, and units quickly triaged them for injuries while Rescue 21 arrived and removed a door from a vehicle for the trapped occupant. The unit had to perform a dash roll to free the driver, MCFD said.

Once all occupants were transported, MCFD said Rescue 21 rigged the vehicle blocking the roadway to a staff vehicle and pulled it out of the way to allow for traffic flow. Traffic had been backed up for about a mile in each direction while emergency personnel responded to the scene, per MCFD. The department thanked all responding emergency officials, as well as a bystander who stayed on the scene for the trapped driver.
