South Lawrence Business Targeted By Thieves
Law enforcement officials are working to determine the identity of the culprit who stole numerous items from a South Lawrence business.
Officials with St. Joseph Milling Company reported the theft through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department this week. They indicated that the theft had taken place sometime between April 1 and July 25.
According to company officials, all of the copper wire had been stripped from the hammer mill, and an electrical box had been dismantled, the brass connections stolen.
An auger and a five horse power motor used to move grain were stolen, company officials said. In addition, metal conduit in the building had been taken apart and the wire inside stripped.
Losses were estimated to total $75,000.
